{"id":229,"date":"2011-10-11T17:17:53","date_gmt":"2011-10-11T17:17:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tezzatron.com\/loadsofrecipes\/2011\/10\/11\/potatoes-cooked-with-meat-and-yogurt\/"},"modified":"2011-10-11T17:17:53","modified_gmt":"2011-10-11T17:17:53","slug":"potatoes-cooked-with-meat-and-yogurt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/loadsofrecipes.co.uk\/curry-recipes\/potatoes-cooked-with-meat-and-yogurt\/","title":{"rendered":"Potatoes cooked with meat and yogurt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 medium onions, sliced<\/li>\n<li> 3 medium potatoes, each cut into 6 pieces <\/li>\n<li> 1 kg leg of lamb, cubed<\/li>\n<li> 1 tsp garam masala<\/li>\n<li> 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated<\/li>\n<li> 2 cloves garlic, grated<\/li>\n<li> 1 tsp cayenne powder<\/li>\n<li> 3 black peppercorns<\/li>\n<li>3 green cardamoms<\/li>\n<li> 1 tsp cumin seeds<\/li>\n<li> 2 cinnamon sticks<\/li>\n<li> 1 tsp paprika<\/li>\n<li> 1 1\/2 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li> 1 cup natural yogurt<\/li>\n<li> 2 green chillies, de-seeded and chopped<\/li>\n<li> Handful of fresh coriander, chopped<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Heat 1 tbsp groundnut oil in a heavy pan and fry the onions until brown. Remove from pan and set aside.&nbsp; Add meat to pan with garam masala and stir fry for 5 mins over low heat.&nbsp;&nbsp; Add the onions back to the pan and remove from the heat.<\/p>\n<p> Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix the ginger, garlic, cayenne, peppercorns, cardamoms, cumin seeds, cinnamon, paprika and salt. Add yogurt and mix well.<br \/>\n Return the pan to the heat and gradually add the yogurt mixture to the meat and onions, stirring well to mix. Fry for about 5-10 mins. Add enough water to cover, lower the heat and cook, covered, for about 1 hour.<\/p>\n<p> Add potatoes and chilli and cook for a further 30 mins or until potatoes are tender. Garnish with coriander.
